I got a hold of some 7.62x39 Plastic Core ammo from a friend.
I pulled and cut up a bullet. It has a copper + ferrous material jacket ( it sticks to a magnet. ) It weighs 61.6 grains. The core is a hard plastic.

The headstamp says "04" and "75" on it. The steel case is a charcoal color and the projectile is nearly the same color.

I would like to know any information on the round that you all may have. I got it more for a novelty than anything else. I do not have high hopes for superb accuracy at long distances, like 200 yds, but who knows. It feels like shooting a ak74 with the lighter bullet.

Has anyone done any accuracy tests with this round? If I like it, do you know where to get more?
I will be going to the range soon to do some testing on accuracy, and if anyone's interested, I will let em know what's what.
Thanks

I am not sure if you have the same ammo I bought but it sounds like it. The ammo I have is made in East Germany before the wall fell. It was made for use in indoor ranges (handgun backstop).

It would still be lethal if shot at close range against human target.

Can’t seem to locate where I have my ammo stored at the moment to confirm the marking on casings.

Because it was made for indoor practice I personal doubt that it would be very accurate at longer ranges 100meters. I have only fired it at 25 meters or less. I have never had any fail to function when shooting it in MAK90 and SKS. When it was imported in to the country it was very cheap. Great blasting ammo while it lasted.

This is the only ammo I've ever had malfunction in an SKS (I've owned 4, IIRC).

This stuff sounds like the East German stuff I got several years ago. It came packaged in little packs of 10 rounds. I saw some the other day at a pawnshop. Bad news, it is highly corrosive.
It doesn't have the range of the Wolf stuff but did perform pretty well as far as accuracy. Not much recoil with this stuff.

The headstamp numbers 04 and 05 are factory codes for East Germany and the 75 is for 1975. Century Arms imported all the plastic core practice ammo available in 1992-1993. Century Arms was sold out of this ammo in a couple of months after the April.1994 ban on the import of Chinese guns/ammo.
Ditto on the "highly corrosive" as it made my rifles rust faster than any other corrosive ammo I have shot. It functioned 100% in my AK rifles but functioned only about 50% of the time in my SKS rifles. This ammo came packed loose or in 10rd blister packs or in 20rd boxes. For pics scroll down to the East German section of the AK rifle ammo id page of my web pages.
