I just had the red ramp front sight on my 686 replaced with a fiber optic sight. During dry fire practice, I noticed something doesn't look right: Indeed, it appears the sight isn't sitting on the gun perfectly straight. In other words, it's not pointing exactly forward, but a bit to the right, and the rear of the sight is skewed towards the left side of the barrel. When obtaining a sight picture, it's tough to center the actual red fiber, since, when viewed from the rear, the fiber appears to be sitting in the front sight asymmetrically.

Can this be adjusted so it's straight? Is this something that requires 'smithing? Is it possible the slot into which the sight sits is off? I don't recall the factory sight sitting askew, though the red ramp is shorter than the fiber, so maybe it wasn't as obvious.

Looks like the sight just comes out by removing a pin - is there a special tool to remove the pin? It's not clear that removal of the pin would allow for any adjustment, though.

It is not "adjustable". The sight fits pretty tight in the slot and the pin secures it.
If it is not straight, it is wrong. Take it back to who installed it and get it right.
