Do I have any options in changing out this S&W Model 66 front sight? It is mostly metal, and I don't know if the red ramp is removeable. My first choice would be for a fiber optic sight. Thank you for any thoughts/suggestions.

If your Model 66 is like my Model 66, and yours looks similiar, that post is an integral part of the barrel.

That red plastic insert is 70's (maybe 60's) technology. I would not recommend knocking it out, unless you are absolutely sure that you have a drop in (and glue in) replacement.

These older pistols have their limitations. No place to attach the turbo, no power port for a death ray.

You need a gunsmith to machine off the upper ramp, and mill an appropriate groove into the rib/lower ramp for the sight you want. You could go with the spring loaded quick change blades S&W offers (lots of machine work on the rib), or go with a conventional pinned sight setup (much less work).
