Hi everyone, my first post here. Bought a 6mm Remington because I've always wanted one. Checked midway, local gun shop, and one of the other sites. I can't find any 6mm Remington brass. Anyone have any recommendations where to look? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome to THR. It looks hard to find around my neck of the woods too. You can make some from 7x57 mauser brass just by running it through a FL die. My buddy just did a couple of hundred.

Grafs.com had some Hornady brass a couple of weeks ago. Right before Sandy hook, several LGSs were swimming in it.

Welcome to THR.

If you don't mind once fired, USA Brass company, Inc. has it cleaned & polished for $35 per 100 count. I don't know if that is mixed head stamp, probably is though, as that seems to be what most of the processors are selling these days.

I use once fired 6mm all the time, and considering what it goes for new, that is if you can even find it, I can't complain. And to be perfectly honest, I prefer it once fired because half the work has already been done for me.

Thanks for the replys. I will checking them out today. And once fired won't bother me. And didn't realize I could make it from 7x57. Which sounds like it would be fun to do.

Cabela's says they have Hornady 95 grain SST in stock. $32.99 per 20. And 100 grain SP Federal Power-Shok at the same price.
Midway hasn't had any 6mm Rem brass for at least 2 years. Question came up on another forum in 2013. 'Out of Stock, No Backorder' then too.

Is there any reason it couldn't be formed from the very common .30-06 cartridge? .30-06 rim thickness is .004" thicker, .30-06 base diameter is .002" smaller, and .30-06 rim diameter is .003" smaller. Would these very slight differences cause issues? I'd think some annealing might be necessary to go down to a .243" bullet might be in order and most likely some trimming. But wouldn't it be feasible if you're willing to anneal and trim?

I really don't know if it you could do it with 30-06 brass, but if it can be done, I would personally turn the necks. .308" necked down to .243" might make the necks too thick, which could cause some pressure issues.

I had a few fired Berdan primed 7mm Mauser cases laying around ... I took my deprime pin out and sized one down in a 6mm Remington die ... then seated a 6mm Nosler bullet ... I measured the outside of the brass with the seat bullet and divided the difference by two... between bullet diameter and measured outside number and came up with a brass thickness of 0.0167" .... that may be too thick, but it would depend on the chamber neck diameter ...

I built (3) rifles this year:
91/30 300WM shot a mule buck
Dumoulin Mauser 6.5-06 shot two does
1903 Turk 6mmRem, did not get to kill, but it did get a nice US Optics scope.
