My 308 LTR likes IMR 4064 and Varget so I tried them on the 708 but the results are not that great. Remington Mod 7 20" barrel.
Any suggestions on loads or other powders to try?

The powders that you mentioned should give you good velocity, are you talking mediocre groups?
What bullets are you using?

There are a bunch of powders that will work well in the 7mm-08, and it is a splendid cartridge for target or game, check out www.hodgdon.com.

The only bullets I have tried so far are nosler 140 bt's with Varget, 4064, and 4350.
The handload groups I am getting are 2" and with factory ammo 1". I would hope to get 1" groups with the handloads not 2".
I will try RE, 748 and some different bullets. I like the bt's since I have had great luck in my 308 with them.

There was a similar thread here that I replied to re: 7mm08 recently. Try looking it up.

I've gotten better performace from my Rem. Mod-7 in 7mm08 from the 4350 class of powders.
Lately, I use only Reloader17. It combines accruacy of IMR4350 and velocities of H4350.

FWIW; my Mod-7 7mm08 w/20"bbl isn't especially accurate. Often 2moa is about all it'll do. But, it's a real "killer" on game. I've tweaked the trigger, freefloated the barrel, and glass bedded the reciever to get it where it's at. I wouldn't have gone to the trouble is it wasn't a "fast" barrel. I frequently see 2,900fps with 139-140gr bullets. Now seeing 2,800fps with the 150's with RL17 and accuracy as good as the rifle can deliver.
I've got a Mod-7 in .260 that will "shoot the pants" off the 7mm08 for accuracy but won't come within 150fps of the 7mm with 140gr bullets.

Try the 150gr bullets. My rifle is indifferent to the bullets lighter than 140gr.

In a M788 w/ an 18.5" barrel I load for, its favorite powder is RL17 behind 140gr TSX. Didn't like Varget at all.

I have a 7mm08 model 7 with a nice short barrel. I have found i achieve the best results with 139gr bullets and quite fast powder, i use 42 grains of N140. I tried imr 4350 and re 19 both gave truly impressive muzzle flashes but less impressive accuracy. I couldn't help wondering what amount was wasted in that flash.

I understand that but so far my experience is when using IMR 4350 in my 708, the groups got tighter as I went up to the max listed in the books. I even went over the published max a little and the groups continued to tighten up more.

Not sure I understand exactly what is going on except the higher the velocity with 4350 in my gun the more accurate it gets???

The opposite happened with 4895. The less powder the more accurate.

I shoot a 150gr BT and Varget in mine. I would like to shoot somthing a little lighter but the 150's are giving me clover leafs. So 150's is what I keep feeding it.

I don't laod the 7-08, but I do load a lot of 7mm RM. My experience has been tighter groups with near max, to max charges of slow burning powder, with light to mid weight bullets, 100 gr. - 145 gr.. The best accuracy I've had has been with 120 gr. bullets and maximum charges of RL22, probably not the powder for 7-08. But I would think RL17, IMR-4350 would offer some good velocity coupled with excellent velocity. I would try to seat up as close to the lands as you can, and then work back if needed until the groups tighten up.
