Good news everyone! JGsales is selling a conversion kit that will fit in a 1911! The bad news? They say it doesn't work in guns chambered in 45acp, only 9mm or 38 super. It also only takes 38 super mags, which without reloading and seating the bullet deeper will only fit 5-6 in the magazine(wonder if it would work in a double stack mag...). Not a huge ding in my book but something to think about if your buying it just to shoot surplus ammo. I wont post a link(not sure on forum rules) but a quick google search will find it. Thoughts and opinions? Oh, and retail is 189.

The necessity of reducing OAL isn't going to make this contraption very popular. The only target audience will be reloaders who are willing to shoot short rounds; one of the most popular features of the cartidge is its relatively large powder capacity. Any previously developed hand loads would have to be reworked.

It may well gain a following...but it would take some investment of effort to make it work correctly.

While the idea is intriguing, after loading 5 or 6 rounds of Polish & Romanian surplus into a couple of Metalform and Taurus .38Super 1911 mags and stripping them out with a flat bladed screwdriver, I predict more frustration than fun.
