As in, either a Chinese converted gun or a kits conversion. It was never a standard caliber by any domestic 1911 builder, although Colt came close with a few .30 Luger Commanders.
From what I have heard, the Mauser/Tokarev round is too long for a standard 1911 magazine, so it takes a special mag, and mods to the inside of the frame to get it to fit.
I have one of these barrel and mag combos on the way to me, so I am starting to think about how to make it work. What is the normal cartridge OAL for this round, with its issue FMJ ammo? I am suspecting maybe I could handload hollowpoints, which would (maybe) allow it to fit in a standard .38 Super mag.
Your experience is appreciated!
