7.62x39 quirk

I managed to scrounge enough to get 256 cases that were actually usable and found that the Win cases had large rifle primers and Rem uses small rifle primers. I haven't sorted through all of them yet, but I think CCI and the mil stuff is also large as well. Just curious as to why.

Also, while sorting a bunch of .38/357 cases I came across 21 cases headstamped WW then .351ww and sp or sl. Now what does that fit I think I also tossed some into my .30 carbine bag but haven't sorted those yet.

.351win SL. The sl stands for self loading. A fairly popular cartridge from the early 20th century. A lot of prisons used them.

Not sure why they use the LR primers,Rem. is supposedly switching over to LR primer in the 7.62 x 39mm brass also,at least thats what a gentlemen from Blue Star C & B said.

I have some brass ordered from Blue Star. They didn't have any packaged and ready to go but did get some in and are sorting through it. They also said Remington was switching to the LR primer. Not sure what I'll receive, but what ever it is, I hope it has the same sized primer for the lot.

So that explains it! I picked up a couple dozen of those at the range and only after I cleaned them up did I notice they were SR. Kept 'em separate and figure I'll use 'em sometime.
