I came across this auction item for CCI primers. Disregard the price, etc. It is clearly labeled CCI #300 **Large Rifle** [emphasis mine] Primers multiple times in the description. Yet the photo AND the CCI website also clearly shows #300 as Large **Pistol** primers. Am I missing something or just the usual state of dazed and confused?
Yes, I sent a question to the seller, no reply yet. Just seems odd, and not just a careless listing error. Are CCI #300 dimensions close enough to fit both rifle and pistol cases?

Well, thanks. It was almost a rhetorical question, but I wasn't sure.

I thought I knew what AJC1 said, that rifle were ever so slightly taller, I guess I knew what I thought.
Again, Hockey and twisty confirmed, adding additional reasons. And I'd surely agree with kidneyboy except the picture and the description of "#300" do match, but the description of rifle vs pistol doesn't. In fairness, I just noticed the discrepancy and sent the question ... maybe 30 minutes ago, so I'd qualify with the seller hasn't answered YET. Regardless, this isn't the first time I've done a double take on the exact issue from various sellers. I'd see the description and follow the item, then notice the the picture and stop watching, while thinking "WTH, I don't care about pistol primers, why did I save that?"

-jb, did I see that or not?

seeing you all post prices on primers I looked to see if they had any 6.5 Creedmoor and the prices were crazy also .
Now I see why I cant find any people are snapping it up like primers and trying to make money off it .

Random 8:
Please just say no at those prices, regardless of the description.

I appreciate and agree with the sentiment. So ...
1. I do. But I would never find a good/decent/fair/ acceptable price without looking.
2. A good/decent/fair/ acceptable price is what a willing seller will accept and a willing buyer will pay.
3. As in the original question post, "Disregard the price, etc."

-jb, buys what he will, when he will, if he will ;)

absolutely crazy. I wouldn't pay that price. Others obviously will.
was the $181 for rifle or pistol primers? :D
See? That was the point, not the price (rather obviously nuts) but regardless, What Was The Product?

Having seen similar listings, without a definitive seller's answer ... buyer doesn't know (or care) what is being bought. To me that's even crazier. A willing buyer ... of what??

eh, be well and safe all.

-jb, NOMB any more

I've seen a few sellers with multiple listings mix up the descriptions/pictures on GB before and negative feedback from buyers who didn't receive what they expected. That's where the "contact seller" option is handy. Most of the time I think it's an honest mistake or just careless.

https://www.lampionline.com/ui/auctions/61082/4971760 Here's another one. A relative bargain compared to the OP, although the storage of all items looks questionable. Aprox 2000? Looks like 2 full bricks, but who knows what's inside. If the price were holding a bit lower, I'd go inspect in-person and find out. This auction house has a rich history of incomplete descriptions. They're stand up guys, so no malfeasance, they just don't pay attention to detail, and it costs them money. No, I don't think they ship primers.

Seller's error. Either showed wrong box or gave wrong description. Large rifle primers are .008" taller than large pistol primers and do produce a bit more brisance. I once tried reloading some 45 ACPs with large rifle and 16 fired OK. But I could not seat the primers deep enough for me. Some were flush, some stuck out about .001"-.002". Wasn't comfortable shooting them in my 1911. I haven't tried any large pistol primers in a large rifle application, but standard large pistols work in my "hot" 44 Magnum loads of around 38.5k+ psi.....

Just to wrap this up:

Seller relied "you are correct, my mistake
Sorry about that. I can't change it now. They are LP"

[blink blink]

Sooo, either the buyer lucked out and wanted the pistol primers at that price, or the buyer "bought" rifle primers on a no refund no return misidentified product???
Regardless of price, "gouging," market will bear/bare, willing buyer/seller, it comes down to "oops, sorry, I mislabeled and you're stuck"???
**This** is how an honest online auction is conducted?

Please just say no at those prices, regardless of the description.
Now THIS is a reason to not buy at online auction. An incorrect description, intentional or not, with a too bad so sad policy is clearly not a willing buyer and seller. Am I wrong? :(
In any event, as has been said, caveat emptor. That's a bit too much caveat in my mind.

-jb, throwing up his hands

Heads up...

When a Democrat takes the White House, there's gonna be shortages
Ammo, Primers, Powders, All Manner of Reloading gear - presses, powder hoppers, primer hardware, etc

Also CCI LRP are #200
#300 is LPP

Agreed, however the topic is not relating to political parties, but thanks for the Heads up ...
You are absolutely correct about CCI #200 vs #300. I was hoping to clarify that out with the original seller re: the OP

We're apparently done with the thread

-jb, again wishing to closing it. ;)
