During our last range outing, my friends and I tried shooting some of the German blue plastic 7.62x51 ammo out of an Ishapore 2A1 rifle. It had about a 70% fail-to-fire rate. There were slight dents on the primers of the rounds that did not go off.

I'm wondering if the ammo is bad or if it's just incompatibility with the rifle. Maybe we should try it in a G3 or FAL?

I have shot some of that blue plastic 308. It has a very high
velocity; and will make a water filled 2 liter bottle explode.
As for your issue; check your headspace on that Ishapore.
Another possibility would be excessive grease inside the bolt;
or a weak striker spring.

I got some of the stuff and it has been fine out of my Spanish Civil Guard and Ishapore 2A1. I only plink with it at 50 yards but it is good for it's purpose. If you do use it out of a semi-automatic you need a special bolt to allow it to cycle properly.
