I've searched the internet high and low with no good results, the manuals I have don't list this powder/cartridge combination, and the Accurate web site doesn't even have any data for the 7.62X54R. I understand it's not the best powder for this cartridge, but the reason I'm looking for some information with A2230 is only because I have a bunch of it on hand. I'm not looking for top velocity or super accuracy, just a safe load for ventilating cans and paper targets. The bullets I have are those surplus 147 grainers and it's for shooting in a M44. Does anyone have any experience, load data, or a source of data using these components? Any information would be helpful, thanks!

I do not have a 2230 per se. What I have is 2230-C which is very similar but a tiny bit slower (they say). I played with it with my M39s and 91/30s. First time I tried it with 147gr FMJBT 308 bullets, WLR primer, 45gr 2230. In the range with m39s. Fire one, bullet stuck about 6 inches into the barrel. No worries. I have another M39 with me. Fire one (again). Same result. NO worries. I have my Finnish 91/30s with me. But I quickly wisened-up and use my Polish LB ammo instead with great shooting result.
Later on I found that 2230 (C) needs to reach certain pressure quickly to burn well. Magnum primer is suggested in its application. FMJBT 308 doesn't in 310 bore doesn't help. And so is the long throat in Mosins. For comparison, a suitable load of H4350 would launch the same 308 bullets in those m39's easily and cleanly...and with good accuracy.
Later on I used .311 FMJBT (Wideners) and CCI250. I also tried Lee Factory Crimp. They work but there were too much smudge on the case for my liking. And at times, it seems that proper sealing were not achieved. Higher load results in bolt sticking.
I have great results with 2230 (C) used in 7.5X55 Swiss in K-31, 7.62x39, and 223 Remington (for AR-15). My only regret with this powder is not getting more than I did.

Thank you Kernel and M39SKY for the reply. I loaded a couple of test rounds, 5 of each. 38.5, 39.5, and 40.5 gr A2230 with federal LR primers and 0.311 147 gr surplus bullets, OAL 2.995". The 38.5 averaged 2398 fps with a max deviation of 61 fps. 39.5 ?? I don't know since I can't find the slip of paper I had the info on! 40.5 averaged 2508 fps with a max deviation of 20 fps. There were no obvious signs of over pressure, but I don't think I'll go over that. Thanks again for your answers.
