Midway has 880rds (2x440 tin) of 147gr 7.62x54r available for 99.99. Didn't specify but the picture looked like Czech Silver Tip, if that means anything. I ordered 2x880 but don't plan on opening it when it comes in. Shipping seemed kind of high at $58, but it still beats $6/10 pack at Dunhams for milsurp.

Shipping seemed kind of high at $58

was the 58$ for your order of 1760 rounds or?

99$+29$= 129$ finaly buying local ammo is almost cheaper!

the market in MA is fairly limited, and normaly when i find x54r the guy drags it out of a closet, dusts it off and guesses at a price

The $58 was for both cases, or $29/case as noted.

Ammunitiontogo lists heavy ball Bulgarian at 154.94/case + shipping.

SOG was selling 880rds of the Czech for $88/880rds but they have been out over a month. Maybe now that shipments are arriving they will get some back in, but the price may change.

This is still better than the .60/rd I'm seeing here for what appears to be the Bulgarian.

I thought of getting 2 cases from Midway, but shipping is $71 to my location. What they have are Hungarian Light Balls. I would have gone for it if they were Czech Silver Tips (better bullet BC).

It must have gone fast because it's out of stock now. I'm glad I had it marked "notify me." I have one case on the way. Where can you find 880 for $99, even with the $29 S&H?!? I hope it is Hungarian light ball. My 'surps love it.

Definitely check out ammunitiontogo.com. I've bought most of my ammo from them. They have great deals and the shipping/processing was real quick, about 2-3 days.

To date I've bought about 1250 rouds of 54R from them. No problems at all.

With the shipping it comes to $.14/rd so I can't complain. I just got into this earlier this year so I can't reminisce about the "good old days". I was kind of hoping that it was the Czech ST like it showed in the picture because I already have the Bulgarian light.

I had marked it for a reminder only the night before and was surprised when I came home from work and saw the e-mail. It wasn't supposed to arrive until 12/9. I entered it as a new item on gun-deals but looks like it never made the posting as it sold out too quick.

I got my mosin 44 from a cop at a garage sale and he sold me 300 rds for $55. Looking in Shotgun News, it's just as cheap. And shipping is low. This stuff is great when 30-06 is so pricey. Also, that silver tip might be AP steel core sniper rounds. That's usually the yellow ones though, real penetrators those are.

This all makes me glad I bought 2 440rnd tins of hungarian for $44.00 a pop a year ago. It helped that I was able to pick it up from Ammunition Store instead of shipping, but unfortunately they closed.

Is this the ammo you were looking at? The rounds in the picture are soft point hungting ammo, from a Russian commercial maker. Not what the ad is for. Secondly, it appears they don't actually have the ammo yet.

I bought 675 rounds of privi patisan brass cased yugo surplus for 130 cash in October. If it's anything like any other yugo surplus ammo I've shot, it'll be good stuff. That and my Bulgarian brass case should last a while, and the brass can be sold in as scrap- $1.60 PER POUND!

That is the ad from which I purchased. It came in stock and I received an e-mail on 11/29 at 11:00am. I found the e-mail and ordered some at 10PM and by the next afternoon it was out of stock. The picture looks a lot like my Czech Silver Tip, but the primer is the wrong color (I just checked). As I said it wasn't really obvious what it was from the description and the picutre may have been "stock". We'll see what it is when it gets here.

Our dear "friend" Hugo Chavez is rumored to have bought a huge shipment of the Russian-made SVDs (Dragunovs) which are chambered in 7.62x54R. Knowing the chronic corruption in his happy country, a good friend of mine has a little theory that soon there will be a lot of the ammo and parts on the market... Let's hope he's right

Order cancelled

Not sure what is going on but Midway just cancelled my order for the ammo. I got an e-mail about a refund and it appears the ammo is not shipping. Problem is they did not refund the whole $59 in shipping as I had added some other items to the order, so it looks like $45 worth of stuff is going to have about $21 in shipping. Wouldn't have orddered the other items until I had more to justify it at that rate. I need to call them tomorrow.

8mm Mauser

Just checked the answering machine and there is a message from Midway. The caller said that they received the ammo, but when they opened the crates it turned out to be 8mm Mauser. I need to call tomorrow to find out about the shipping, and see what the deal is with the Mauser ammo.

I had the same experience. Message left on my machine stated that it was 8mm and not the 54r. Bummer.

this is the 8mm they got in, not terrible stuff, but a little pricey, and berdan primed, so not worth it to me. I have had fairly good luck loading with comercial components, and any primers I use are non-corrosive. I don't shoot a lot of 8mm, but this might not be too bad for someone who shoots a lot of 8mm, and doesn't reload.

Well do they have any 8mm mause ammo in stock? that would me MUCH better then having 7.62x54r which is still very much availible, 8mm is not, to those that got 8mm from them recently weather by accident or not, what kind is it? 50's yugo?

I bought 675 rounds of privi patisan brass cased yugo surplus for 130 cash in October. If it's anything like any other yugo surplus ammo I've shot, it'll be good stuff. That and my Bulgarian brass case should last a while, and the brass can be sold in as scrap- $1.60 PER POUND!

@mp510 Yeah i have one box of Privi surplus 7.62x54r that i religated the rest of to my ammo collection, it is some of the best 7.62x54r i have ever shot perioud. where did you find that stuff?!

I just pulled this off the midway site,:
Surplus Ammunition 8x57mm Mauser (8mm Mauser) 198 Grain Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail M75 Sniper Corrosive Berdan Primed Case of 900 (60 Boxes of 15)

Surplus Turkish ammunition enclosed inside a hermetically sealed metal case. Perfect for the military historian, and good peace of mind for anyone with an 8mm Mauser. Note that this ammunition is non-reloadable and corrosive, so rifles must be cleaned immediately after shooting.
I dont think they even know what the heck they have. The only country that ever made M75 is Yugoslavia, and not untill 1976 anyway, LOOONNGGG after turkey had quit making 8mm Mauser ammo, the Turk stuff never came in 900 round cases, nor is privi partisan turkish ammo. Needless to say, they need to keep up with where they get thir stuff from, what it actually is, and how they list it for sale.
