As the basis for a "project gun". Obviously the purchase-price on the LTR is higher.
I've got a 700P (not the LTR) rebarreled in 260 Remington. All the bells and whistles. Great rifle.
But now I think I want something shorter (~1M OAL), lighter and just generally "handier".
I expect to end up with a lightweight, scoped, .243 or 6mm BR (no-neck). Something just for fun, plinking out to maybe 300yds, that doesn't beat me up.
Buy pieces (gun, base, mounts, scope, reloading gear, detachable magazine conversion, etc) over time, as I can afford them.
I'm probably more-likely to replace the stock on the SPS, but possibly retain the stock from the LTR.
Wolf .308 is inexpensive, and I could avoid handloading .243 on my way to 6mm BR (assuming it will feed from a detachable box magazine). Or I could probably sell the fluted LTR .308 barrel easily.
Which makes more sense to start with?
