In 1960 and early 70' every kid wanted to be a cowboy. Westerns ruled TV and film. John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Gun Smoke and Bonanza. Daisy jumped on the bandwagon in 1960 and created there fist of the Spitting image series of guns. The 179. Not a accurate or powerful bb gun 150fps but it actually shot bb's. Fun times before airsoft.
The gun is unusual as it is a catapult gun. Not powered by compressed air but by kinetic energy.
This example is a 71 NRA centennial celebrating 100 years of the NRA. They where sold in numbered sets with the Daisy 1894 centennial rifle or individually.
