i've been considering getting something bigger than what I have now, that is a 72 hour bail out bag. I've been looking around and have favored la police gear's operator backpack. only problem is they never have them in stock. mean while i've been looking around for similar bags that won't break the bank. haven't found anything yet. any suggestion or recommendations? preferably in black.

They appear to have a number of 3 day packs, including additional LAPG, that may fit your needs.

Also, look at backpacks from quality outdoor manufacturers with the same relative cubic inch capacity.

I built mine using a Kelty back pack. It looks like a college kids book bag so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb and scream BUG OUT BAG. I also rotate the supplies in it about every 90 days.

Voodoo, condor, fox, ncstar.. Reasonably priced. I would search amazon and do a google shopping search at the same time to find the best deal.

Hello friends and neighbors // I found a Swiss Military, Water Proof, Engineers Pack for $11.00 at the Good Will in Asheville N.C.

This one was new but they sell used for $20 - $50 online.
Here is one for sale on ebay: Swiss Military Engineers Backpack.jpg Swiss Military Engineers Backpack shoulder straps.jpg

Good luck finding what works for you.

I use a 5.11 Rush 12 and a Rush 24.

They also make a 72:

More militaristic looking, but isn't anything in black going to be? Skipping the "Pork Eating Crusader" patches and blood type patches helps.

As long as I keep mine clean (no patches), I can check into a hotel with the pack and a briefcase, and no one looks at me twice. I think the sandstone (tan) model says "bugout" more than the black. I have a burr haircut, and carrying the multicam, I was waved around the security line at O'Hare airport, to the shorter line for active military. (I declined). So, yes, people that are trained to notice things like that, certainly do pay attention to color.
