wild cat mccane has a history of posting anti-2A stuff. Don't pay his trolling any mind - it'll embolden him further if you do.

It also happened in Athens Georgia with slightly different details in the summer of 1946, but it followed the same pattern of government tyranny followed by armed rebellion. Is it any wonder they want us disarmed?

That was Athens TN. Not Georgia.

The modernization of that article makes more sense now to what happened last week. A friend of mine thought it was real and was saying nonchalantly and I said no way that just happened. So he pulled it up on his phone and said, 'oh wait that was during the revolution.' LOL.

I first read this sometime in the mid 90s. I thought it was an interesting take on history and wondered what would happen if that did happen today. My first thought was that it would not likely be reported. Remember, this was the mid 90s, pre-interwebs days. I figured if something like that happened, it would be censored by the MSM and those who tried to stay informed would probably hear about it weeks later by fringe media outlets. I believe if it were to happen today, MSM would try to ignore it but somewhere, the story would get out via social media.

(I admit to occasionally wearing a tin-foil hat back in the day).

And as they say "Those who do not study history are destined to repeat it".

And those who do study it often think they can repeat it differently (oxymoronic phrasing intentional).

It isn't our knowledge of history that determines our future.

if we assume 50% of the people would consider a peaceful change in govt,
maybe 10% would be willing to take any initiative...
unfortunately our rulers know this and that's why they do what they do

If God be with us, who can be against us? If God had not been with our Founding Fathers, we would all be under British rule.

Great reminder of what our founding fathers endured for us to have the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. Could it happen again? We need to be on guard to make sure history doesn't repeat itself. The price of freedom is eternal vigilence.

Wasn't it last year that the decendants of those brave 18th century Bostonians allowed themselves to be locked in their homes under govt. order, then allowed the same govt. to force them out of their homes at gun point for warrantless searches?
These same decendants then stood in the streets and cheered and thanked those who raped them of their constitutional rights.
Who among them stood up and physically fought against the intrusions? Anyone?
Shame on you, cowards of Boston.

Boston does not represent my country.

We're withdrawing from Afghanistan with our tails between are legs, as did the Soviets and British before us, backed down by goat herders with "primitive" weapons.

Absolutely, positively NOT.

We're leaving for a multitude of reasons that all fall under the general heading of "Problems of Nation Building in a Tribal Region". Militarily, Afghanistan was subdued within a few weeks of the invasion's start.

All this talk about "us vs. the gov't!" never ceases to amaze me. Have you all lost faith in democracy? We have a major election every two years where we get to fine tune the gov't to our liking.

I would think that the revolution would take place at the voting booth LONG before it ever came to arms.

0to60 tagged it right. We have democracy when we were established as a Republic in order to prevent the certain collapse brought on by the flaws of democracy. When the wolves outnumber the sheepdogs voting does not work.

My main fear isn't mass confiscation attempts and battles vs the government. I truly don't think that will happen.
The gun grabbers know that an attempt to forcefully disarm the American public would end in bloodshed. They're not going to attempt it outright. They're going to keep clipping away little by little at our rights. There will be no defining moment in the process I don't think. It will just get more and more strict until one day, many years down the road, gun rights will be a thing of the past.
The reason I think this is that the next generation will be a little more apt to accept it than the previous one, and the next a little more and so on and so forth. I'm afraid we are a dying breed that lives and breathes gunsmoke. I'm young, only 33 but I am aware that my generation as a whole has less die hard 2A supporters than the last. And I suspect it will only get worse. I'm doing what I can raising my child to cherish the RKBA and never give it up under any circumstances, but I really think in 50-60 years it will be drastically different.

I hope like hell I'm wrong.

Well, I'm 57 and spent a big chunk of my life on the west coast. My mother's people came there around the time of the Gold Rush. I loved it there, but I can't go back. I'd be breaking too many laws, just by keeping my personal possessions.
Liberal and Progressive policies have ruined the entire region - one idiotic policy at a time.
The Pacific coast has been nibbled to death by ducks. I'm afraid that the rest of the country is next.

Funny how God is proclaimed to have been on the winning side. Based on religious battles over the centuries, apparently having God on your side does not assure success in battle. This isn't a religious issue and proclaiming it as one is silly.

Of course god is always on the winning side. Whoever wins, it was always because their god was stronger than the other guys.

Like you said, the issue isn't about religion. But hey, lets not waste an opportunity in interject it in anything.

We no longer have a Democracy. We have a defacto Corporatism. We were founded as a Republic. We're getting deeper in the hole.

I think you're probably right. :(
