does anyone know how to remove the bolt assy from a 7400 remington?

Remington will send you a manual to replace yours for free. Sadly I don't know how to remove the bolt but I'm sure that help is on the way.

Basicly, you have to remove the barrel that is retained by a barrel nut that has been torqued on by Mongo at Remington. To top it off, you really need the special wrench to avoid damaging the barrel nut. Gunsmiths make a lot of money on cleaning Remington auto rifles for this very reason.

Notarifleman,is your Remington starting to jam on you?If so it may not be a dirty bolt problem,but what is referred as chatter on the upper portion of the inside of the reciever.
When using heavier bullets(180gr and above)it causes the bolt to engage these cut marks on the reciever and basically stops the bolt and turns it into a single shot rifle.
My Grandfather had a one that a gunsmith honed the chatter marks out,it helped for about 2yrs then started occurring again.
A co-worker also has one and if he uses 165gr bullets he is fine but if he goes to the 180's he starts to experience jams.

P.S. Remington supposedly has an upgrade they can install,but I've heard the cost will make you think they used gold in the fix.
