I have a Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail that doesn't like any of the 8 round magazines that I have.

Is there an easy way to diagnose the problem or should I have a gunsmith look at it?

A little info on the gun it has around 1200-1500 rounds through it, so it should be broken in by now. On my Wilson 8 rounders it will feed, but not lock back after the last round and with my Kimber mags most of the time it will jam trying to feed the top round from slide lock. It does seem to be a very tight gun, so I don't know if that might be part of the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What? Blasphemy... A DW that doesn't operate perfectly! ... lol

Anyways, with the wilson 8 rounders you may need to pick up some overpowered springs to help with that last round slide lock. (This is what I would assume anyway.

With the kimber mag, I would have to assume that the feed lips are bent in too far, basically holding the nose of the round down. Remember, all mags are not created equal. Some sit higher in the gun, some hold the rounds at a slightly different angle and all that jazz.

Don't bet on sending it to a smith just yet, always start with the cheapest part that could be causing a problem.

It's well-known that Wilson mags need to have their springs upgraded, you can add Wolff +5% springs to them.

If you are shopping for new mags, I use 8-rd Chip McCormick Powermags. They work in my DW bobtail.
