I just bought a sealed 8lb jug of "Thunderbird 8208" powder. I searched around on the internet looking for data before I bought it to see if it would work in an M1 Garand. The limited info I could find suggested it would, but I couldn't find any specific data.

The price was right so I bought it. Does anyone know where to find loading data for this powder?

Fatelk,

The only listings I can find for 8208 are for 8208M, which was used for 5.56 ammunition in 55 grain and 62 grain bullet loadings. From the data, it suggests that it's close to Winchester 748 or Hodgdon H-335 in burn rate, so that may give you a place to start working up loads. I couldn't find any listing for it in either 7.62 or .30-06.

By the way, did you get all that brass loaded up yet?

Hope this helps.

Fred

Thanks Fred. The info I found suggested it was close to H-335, as well. I guess that gives me a good place to start.

Thanks again for all the brass. Actually I haven't loaded any of it yet. I plan on loading up a bunch of 308 soon, as well as 30-06, when I get loads worked up with this powder. I don't think it will work for 7mag, but I still have a bunch of WWII surplus H4831 I've been using for years.

I haven't done much loading for some time, too much overtime at work. It actually looks like we'll be laying off a few techs real soon. I most likely won't be one of them, but I don't know how that will affect those of us who stay.:(

How have those sizer dies worked out?
