Ok, found this on MSN, link, and though it was appropriate to bring it up.

Just imagine if you were 84, confronted by 2 men trying to take your keys and whatever else. Lets consider some strategies (besides not being a good citizen to help a stranded vehicle) and equipment.
 
Yeah I wouldn't stop unless it was women only, life is tough as any 80 YO should know. Also as I get older the CCW gets used more. If I didn't have one, I would anyway.

1) Don't get out of our car and do keep doors locked and car in gear with motor running.
2) Don't approach too closely
3) Offer to call somebody for the "stranded" motorists (from a distance)
4) Maintain distance and awareness.
5) Leave at first sign of potential trouble
6) If given # to call, then call it for the motorists, from a safe location AWAY from them.

And there you have it, strategy with no additional equipment needed.
