Hello,

I have a Remington 870 20 gauge youth model that i purchased because of the light weight and fast handling characteristics. However the comb is too high for me and I consistently shoulder the shotgun with a sight picture looking over the rib as opposed to along it.

Is there a modification I can install to the stock to get it effectively lower? Such as a wedge of some sort.

Or is there a stock available that just has a lower comb height?

My 870 Express youth Model has wood furniture, but we have the same problem. Our necks must be too long? I have to scrunch my face down on the stock.

I noticed I have the same tendency with my 12ga 870 and it's standard stock - if I put the stock to my shoulder first and then bring the gun up to my cheek, I end up looking at the top of the barrel, instead of sighting down it. Then I checked out this video about proper fit:

Expert Advice on Proper Gun Fit and Gun Mounting

When I mount the weapon as described in that video - i.e., line up sights first, then buttstock to shoulder, the very bottom top of the stock is resting high on my shoulder, not in the pocket.

You could try the new Magpul stock perhaps. It has adjustments for the cheek weld, but not sure that's really the same as the comb being too high. (note, I don't have one, nor have I physically seen or mounted one).
