Youth stock on a 12 gauge

I am looking for a (preferably) mossberg 500 or remington 870. I would like a youth size stock, but most I see are 20 gauge.

Can a 20 gauge youth stock fit on a 12 gauge?

Does a mossberg or remington youth in 12 gauge and a 22" barrel exist?

Mossberg has a 12ga bantam model with a 24" barrel. Mossberg item# 52132

At 20ga stock will not fit a 12ga and visa versa. You can pick up an 870 or 500 and buy a youth stock from hogue or another company. That way you can swap out stocks if needed.

The 24" youth mossberg is wood. Which is "better" for softer recoil synthetic or wood?

Hogue says 12" LOP. What is the standard?

14" is the standard IIRC. I would think the wood stock would be better for recoil seeing the would stock would weigh a tad more than the synthetic.

For a SD gun it's better to have a 12" stock, easier to swing up hug and control muzzle tip no matter how big you are. I have a Bantam 12" on one 500 20 ga. and a 12" Hogue on my 590 12 ga. What a difference these shorter stocks make from a 14".

I have Remington Factory Youth Stocks on all of my 12 Gauge 870s. I tried the 12 inch LOP Hogue ShortStock, but it was too short .

Even though I am 6'1" 240 with a 37 inch sleeve length, I like the 13 inch LOP of the Youth stock better than the 14 inch LOP standard stock. When using a squared up shooting stance with the stock pressed against the pec muscle/chest area, when wearing heavy clothing in the wintertime, when your shotgun might be used in an emergency by your smaller stature spouse or children, for a slightly more compact package when maneuvering in tight spaces, I think the shorter stock works better.

Get one, try it, you will probably like it.
