Oh no not another one of these threads.... I searched, really...

For a number of reasons I've decided on an 870 for a wilderness protection firearm, i think. I've ordered a Knoxx SpecOps stock for it (for reduced LOP) now I'm searching for an extended forend, similar to a Benelli/Stoeger for the 870. Is there an off the shelf application? The only ones i can find are rubberized / tactical / pistol style... Idealy I would like a forend that when cycled rearward would cover the bottom of the receiver.

Thanks.

That would be the standard 'field length' forearm, as opposed to the short police length (9" versus 7"). CDNN had some listed in black synthetic for $8 in their last catalog (1-800-588-9500).

There are some even longer forearms made for the Trap guns, all of those I have seen were walnut and expeeensive.

All fore-end tubes on 870s are the same length, so no worries about having to change out the action bar assembly as with some other makes/models. All you will need to do is remove the fore-end nut, replace the forearms and replace the nut. Note that this is much easier to do with the proper tool...

The jpg shows Remington's longer 870 fore-end. Consider buying one of these models and you'll already have it. If you just want to buy the fore-end, only, then various sources are available, e.g.: http://www.arizonagunrunners.com/Products/SpeedFeed/speedfeed.html

or other online catalog locations, including Remington, itself.
