For my stock 870 HD, I just ordered the Knoxx Specops adjustable stock and the Mesa Tactical Side Saddle four round holder.

I've looked at each site for install instructions, but I'd like to hear what your experiences are installing these items.

It'll be interesting to see what it feels like to shoot the 870 with the Specops stock and reduced recoil rounds.

Well, the Knoxx should simply attach with one bolt- as my Copstock did. You do have a set of Allen wrenches, right?

I don't have a Mesa sidesaddle, but my sidesaddle simply attached with bolts that replaced the trigger group pins. One bolt is larger in diameter than the other.

It shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes to install both items. BTW, my stock was cut back for use with a 6 rd sidesaddle.

My Knoxx Copstock reduced recoil enough that standard loads don't hurt...more than using a standard stock does...

I have 500 rounds of low recoil Federal. I also bought a few other defensive rounds just to run them through and get a feel for them.

I've owned and shot the 870 off an on for many years. Never did any mods before this.

My last outing, the shoulder was wearing down before I really wanted to stop shooting.

Good. Low recoil or not, use good form. Keep at it, I suggest range outings of 100-150 rounds or less. Stop when you get sore.

HTH....

Aside from making sure the gun fits properly, no 'addition' available has more actual utility than trigger time for the owner. Go shoot it... a lot... get the fire control computer that lives between your ears programmed properly first.

probably going for this at some point - http://www.wilsoncombat.com/s_standard.asp
you can send in your own and get it upgraded, although it sucks losing the original buttstock and foregrip (Remington Steal package)

Wilson Combat is overpriced, IMHO. The 870 is such that you can do most of that stuff on your own (but I would have a gunsmith install the sights) for less.

I took the 870 out last night. I only put about 40 rounds through as I was shooting all the guns I own as well.

Bone stock, this 870 HD is a great weapon. I fired about 15 rounds of the Federal Flight control low recoil 00 buck and it was amazing. at 50 feet the shot took out an area about 12" X 12X. Felt very nice to shoot.

This weekend I'll install the Knoxx Adjustable recoil reduction stock and report back after I go out and shoot it.

The 870 is a fun gun to shoot. I'm going to take some before and after pictures this weekend so you guys can see what it looks like.
