Will a 870 Light Contour barrel fit a 1960 vintage Wingmaster? I'm looking for a replacement barrel on my Dad's old 870. It currently has a Poly-Choked 28" barrel and I would prefer a ribbed barrel with the Rem-Choke system.
Yes. I've a 30" LC barrel on Number 6, which was made in 1955. Note that if the receiver is for 2 3/4" shells, that's what you must use despite the 3" chamber on the LCs.
Thanks Dave, that was the answer I was hoping for. I already have a 26" Skeet choked barrel for the old 870 which I like a lot, but I'm hoping to find a good used Wingmaster barrel with the Rem-Choke. I just wasn't sure if the LC and the standard barrel were interchangeable.
Another option, if you love not the Poly, is to lop it off and thread the barrel foe tubes. If Remchokes need more metal than what's left, the old Truchoke system may fit. I've one barrel with them with a mixed set of Hastings and Colonial tubes from Skeet to Turkey Full. This would be a bit less dear than the LC barrel.
