870 Buttstock fitting question...

Does anyone know if it is possible to sand down a 12ga 870 buttstock to fit a 20ga 870?

The 12 gauge is bigger, and sanding involves removal of material, so I am going to say yes, it is possible.

With 870s, it depends on the age of the 20 ga. gun. Older 20 gauge 870s were made on 12 ga. size receivers. If the last letter in your gun's serial number is X or N, a 12 ga. stock should fit with no alteration.

Otherwise, IMHO you'd be better off getting a buttstock that properly fits a 20 ga. receiver.

You can sand a 4x4 to fit a 20 Gauge 870.
