I admittedly despise the remington 870 for no good reason. It is built like a tank and works flawlessly but in my hands it feels awkward...I grew up on mossbergs. I ended up buying a 870supermag to try and force myself to shed the hatred for the platform in its entirety but no such luck...but I have learned that I simply hate the stocks. I know there is a plethora of pistol grip shoulder stocks and m4 type stocks and a few other tactical variants like folders and such. I need one of those but dont know what to buy. I like the looks of a shurshot but its still a remmy stock. I would greatly appreciate opinions on this and other shoulder stocks with the pistol type grip built in.

And if you have a shurshot please post a review somewhere because info is lacking in internetland...

I didn't care for the default stock on my 870 either. I was in a similar boat and ended up replacing it with a collapsible stock and pistol grip. Blackhawk Specops. Great thing about this stock is it comes with or without built in recoil springs to accommodate budget and taste. The NRS doesn't have any extra recoil absorbing parts.

the 870 Shurshot is how I picked my logon name... :)

I love mine! it shoots the 300 gr Hornady slugs like a rifle out to 150 yards and I have no complaints about the stock at all. it has a pinned barrel and makes an excellent tool. shot my first deer with a head shot DRT on a dead run.

Please shurshot...more info. There is very little available. Does it flex? Fit nicely in the hand? Feel like any gun you can compare the grip to??

like I said, I love it! I have big hands but do not own any other thumbhole stock to compare it to. I have not noticed any flex in the stock. the gun comes right up where it should when shouldered. it is very easy to carry in the field. I put a cheap scope on it the day I bought it and ruined the scope the first day I shot it from the recoil. went back to the gun shop where I bought it and they replaced the broken scope with a new one just like it and I have had no issues with the replacement.

I grew up a Winchester man myself. I have owned a couple 1100s but this was the first Remington 870 I have ever owned. I did notice that the action was a little stiff when I first got it, but I either got used to it or it loosened up a tad because it is slick as a whistle.
