870 Wingmaster Year Made?

I have an 870 Wingmaster that was my grandfather's. I have killed my first squirrel and deer with it and have no idea when it was made. It has a fixed full choke on it and chambers 2 3/4 in. shells. My question is how would I go about checking the age using... EX: serial numbers and such?

Call Remington at 1-800-243-9700. Work through the phone tree until you reach a live person. Give them the serial number and they'll give you the year it was made.

Exactly the right advice. Be advised that the date code on the barrel is not a reliable indicator of the gun's production date.

The folks at Remington will be glad to help you with that info. A few years ago I bought my first 870 Wingmaster at an estate sale. I called Remington and asked them for the manufactured date and an owners manual. They not only gave me the info over phone but sent some Remington free bees with the owners manual. They love to answer questions about their products from owners and potential owners. Good folks there.

It was made in 1970.
