Does a v suffix on the serial number mean 2 3/4" only, or does it mean manufactured in 1979? I have heard it both ways.

It means 23/4" only. An M would indicate 23/4" or 3" and an A would mean 23/4", 3" or 31/2". These, of course are for 12 ga.

Thanks!! I have since learned that it means 1979 if it is a V PREFIX.
I am in the process of buying 2 used Wingmasters. One made in 1979, and one made in 1969. They are supposed to be in real good shape, but I hadn't seen them yet--just pix.
