Could some of you who have 870's with a full pistol grip stock (not just the pistol grip) do me a favor and shoulder it up lefty and see if you can hit the safety button with your left thumb?

BTW, I have kinda small girl-sized hands so please try to take that into consideration. :p

If I get a defensive shotgun it'll either be an 870 or a 590A1, just looking through my options.

Thanks a lot.

With a pistol grip stock the Mossbergs safety is near impossible to reach too.

Get the 870 and have a left handed safety installed. Shouldn't cost but $30 or so installed.

Edit: Found this on the Gander Mountain website:

"Convert Remington common fire control to left hand safety (price includes safety & labor) $30.00 "

Yammy,

Are you left handed? Remington makes a mirror image lefty Express version currently, one of the dealers I see often had a used lefty Wingmaster in stock last time I was there, $249.

If you're just trying the idea considering weak- side utility, I dunno- no peegee scattergun stocks here, gave the last one away several years ago to a friend who just haddahadda have one.

And tang safeties and peegees are a difficult match, as has been said...

Good luck, stay safe,

The Ithaca loads and ejects through the bottom, making essentially ambii without the hassle if you try to sell it later.

I have to shoot lefty (cross dominant eye). :banghead:

If I go with the Mossy I'll just stick with the standard stock and tang safety. I didn't realize you could switch the regular safety over to "lefty." I usually have a hard time finding left handed guns and was wanting to get a slightly older used Wingmaster and convert it for defensive use.

Thanks for the info guys.
