Fellers, I'm in crisis mode now! I've been building an 870 home defense gun from a spare 870 I had lying around. Now I'm a lefty and the Knoxx SpecOps adjustable stock with pistol grip makes working the safety pretty tough. My other 870 (duck gun) has a LH safety button made by Fortmann's. I went online to MidwayUSA tonight to order another and they state it is out of stock with now backorder! Does anyone know where I can get one?

I've switched two through the years, and all I did was flip it. I was totally unaware there was such a thing as a "left handed" safety. Doesn't show on the Remington parts list, either.

I just sold the 870 and bought a 500, personally. :D That wouldn't help you anyway, though, with a pistol grip stock. I'd sure like to try to swap that safety on my 1400 Winchester. The crossbolt safety is irritating in the field for a lefty and I don't have any pistol grips on my shotguns. I might look at it with the idea lf swapping it sometime. Not sure it's possible on that gun. At least there's an aftermarket for 870s. If there's any sort of need for something, it's likely available for an 870.

Ive got a Mossberg and Remington :)

Being left handed I tried to turn the safety button upside down but it didnt work, so I bought one from Midway. It was rediculously expensive over here, but I expect it would be cheaper in the states.

There is an explaination of how to do it on www.shotgunworld.com, but suffice to say its very easy.
