I am kinda a newbie, I searched the forum for the answer and didnt see anything. I am sizing and cleaning a bunch of 9mm brass. I end up with lots of 9mm LUGER, but have lots of other stuff.
1. 9mm (no luger) headstamp
2. WCC
3. WCC +P
4. 9x18 MAK
5. 9x17
6. 9x19

What are all these? Throw them into the recycle box? Thanks in advance.

The "WCC" means it's Winchester brass; probably military brass with crimped primers (hard to deprime, even harder to prime again.) It's good brass but you might have to ream the primer pockets to make it usable. The "+P" on some of it means it was originally loaded to higher pressure; the brass is the same except for the headstamp.

9x19 is the same as 9mm Luger

9x18 Mak is for the Makarov or CZ-82 pistol (and a few others) It's like a .380 on steroids, but a big step down in power from a 9mm. Set that brass aside, you might want it someday, or give it to someone who can use it.

9x17 is probably .380ACP brass (I've never seen it marked that way.) Don't throw it away; that stuff is scarce right now!

WCC is Winchester Cartridge Co. It's a military brass headstamp because civilian brass would say WIN or WW or Winchester instead. Probably has crimped in primers (there is a ring pressed around the edge of the primer). If so, it's probably not worth the effort to deprime and swage the primer pocket since there is so much 9mm brass that is good as is. That's just my opinion, though.

WCC +P is a +P (higher pressure) loading in the 9mm brass. With the WCC headstamp it's probably military submachine gun brass (HK MP5 or something like that). Just like the other WCC above, if it has crimped primers, probably not worth spending the time messing with it.

9x18 MAK is a Makarov case. They are 1mm shorter, but the diameter is .360" instead of .355" for 9mm Luger. Can't use them for your regular 9mm, but save them to trade to a Mak shooter.

9x17 is the same as .380 Auto. It's also called 9mm Browning (9mmBR), 9mmKorto or 9mmKurz (9mmK) etc. These are kinda valuable nowadays because they are scarce and in demand. Not useful for regular 9mm though but they are .355" diameter like regular 9mm is, just 2mm shorter.

9x19 is the standard designation for 9mm Luger, also called 9mm Parabellum.
Be aware that a lot of cases marked 9x19 are probably Seller & Belloit (S&B) headstamp, they also made a LOT of those cases that are steel with a brass wash and look identical to the brass cases right down to the red primer sealer. A magnet sorts them out for disposal.

I have a Dillon Super Swage 600 for removing primer crimps. It works great, and is quick and easy. All military brass has crimped in primers, except MATCH cases. I shoot 5.56 NATO ( same as 223 Rem) and 7.62 x 51 NATO (Same as 308 Winchester) I buy a lot of military brass and the swager makes quick work of the crimp and is then easy to reload.

The 9x17 is 380 Auto. It is also called 9mm Kurtz.

The 9x18 MAK is a different size of 9mm. It is 9mm Makorav (sp?) It has a 0.365 diameter bullet.

.380 Auto is a slightly smaller case, certainly in head diameter. Put one of each round in a 9 mm gauge, head first, and the 9x19 will go in maybe one third with its 10mm dia head, while the .380 case is completely and freely swallowed. That difference is the key in the Shell Sorter being able to use a machined adapter exact enough to sift the .380 cases out of a remaining batch sifted down from larger than 9mm.

9mm - .394 (10 mm) max head diameter

.380 Auto (9mm Kurtz) - .374 (9.5 mm) max head diameter

Both cases have the same case mouth diameter spec of .356 (9.0 mm) ID (bullet diameter).

ok...

So I can use the 9x19 as 9mm Luger? What is the case marked just 9mm without any luger after it? And the 9x17 and 9x18 is tradable?
Thanks

The 9X17mm goes by MANY nanes are all are the same round.
Here are some of the names for the 9X17mm and there are probably a few more I missed:
.380 Auto
.380 ACP
9mm Browning
9mm Browning Short
9mm Kurz (short)
9mm Corto (short)
9mm Short
