Hi Everyone; I remember seeing Rob Latham a couple of years ago saying how he was loading 90 gr. FMJ .380 bullets in .38 Super and making major.
Has anyone tried this? Sounds a little crazy, I currently load my .38 Super in a gun with a fully supported ramp/chamber and use Starline Super Comp .38 Super brass, Remington BR 7 1/2 small rifle primers and Alliant Blue Dot in 9.6 grains.

What velocity do you need to make "Major" with a 90 Gr bullet? I have played with 90 Gr JHPs in .38 Super, but haven't pushed them real hard.

I remember Rob Latham talking about this and how loud they were but that is all I know; this must be a scary load

What match would this be for? I thought USPSA had a minimum bullet weight of 112 gr for major?

Either way I've run a 95 gr JHP up to 1620 FPS with hs6 in 9mm, I'm sure there's enough room in the case of a 38 super to get where you want to go. Try some 3n38 powder if you can find it.

Wouldn't be for a match; it was just bugging me and I wanted to know if anyone had heard it or tried it.
thanks
