Anyone have a favorite load (Practice & Match) for the SA MIL-SPEC 38 Super? I've done a few (couple hunderd each) loads with 124g Speer TMJ and FMJ bullets using CCI small pistol primer, Starline Super Comp cases and 6.5 to 6.8g of Power Pistol. These were good loads running ~1250FPS/155PF. Both seemed to shoot as well as I could hold the weapon.

I've had good luck with 115 JHP and Blue Dot. I don't remember the powder charge offhand but it was the one listed in Alliant's web site. The velocity is about 1250 FPS if I remember correctly. My Colt S/A seems to like it.

Power Pistol is a great choice. Try some IMR 4756, it has been a while since I was loading and shooting a Super but I really liked 4756.

I see Midway has the Speer Uni-Cor 124 FMJ at 109.99 per 2800. That's only $0.04 each. Are these Speer bullets any good? I'm thinking they would be a good practice bullet.
Should I be looking at a heavier bullet for match use? 130? 147?
How about AA7 or HS7? Blue Dot? Unique?
I'm not using these in a "race" gun. My gun is stock and I only plan on making minor upgrades to my MIL-SPEC as needed and allowed by the stock class rules. I'm okay with shooting MINOR loads if that's all my gun can reliably take without serious modifications.

I'm full of questions.

Hornady 124 FMJ FN (bulk bullets) and Blue Dot. You work up your own level for your gun. My heavy load in my 6" Colt/Caspian has shoot 1" 50 yd groups from the bench.
