:DGreetings,
But has anyone ever made a homemade knife or stilleto out of a 91/30 bayonet?

No, but there is no reason you couldn't.

There were homemade fighting knives made from spike bayonets & old swords during WWII.

I made this one from a broken civil war sword blade.

This one from an M16 bayonet.

Then there was the M1917 Trench Knife used in WWI.

They were not made from Russian spike bayonets, but could have been.

At one point while flitting around the edges of the SCA (Socioty for Creative Anachronisms) ren-faire crowd (they disliked my idea for a persona for Eric Von Furstenboomer, Midievil artillerist and bell maker) I considered making Bodkins from those or other spikes then available fairly cheaply like SKS or French Mas 36.

Bodkins were long thin sometimes round, square or triangular cross section or cruxiform daggers that were inteneded specifically to pierce mail or leather armor and were sometimes allowed in courts where an edged bladed dagger was not as it was considered defensive rather than offensive in nature.

I was considering going with something like a Bollocks dagger all wood ( and not real box wood that's for $ure) handle with the blade section just epoxed in as a cheap money maker and a Rondel type hilt with large ferrin coins for a guard and cap and blackened wooden grip for those wishing to fork over more geld.

But no I have not given it much thought......

beautiful!

RCMODEL,
Those knives are beautiful! Thanks guys for the information. I was just wondering if anyone had any information on how to make one with 91/30 bayonets. I guess it could look like the Rondel, but I am new to this. There is a handle that is machined by Brass Stacker, but it is heavy once you put it on the bayonet. I was wondering if there was something like that but maybe made of aluminum to make it light and fast. Or maybe the weight of the one from B. S. make it better for thrusting attacks. Again, thanks for the information!
Kindest regards,
