Academy Sports in the Houston area has Monarch FMJ 9mm on sale for $4.86/box of 50. Brass cases.
Decent plinking ammo. Shoots well in my CZ P01.

Academy's around here sell the CCI blazer for the same price, stocked up on a lot of it last night matter-of-fact . I believe the Monarch is made by Barnaul the same company that makes the Bear series(Silver,Brown and Gold bear). Are you sure it's brass cased? I thought the gold series was steel cased with a brass coating. Should shoot fine though.

I just bought 200 rounds of the Monarch ammo and it worked very well in my P99. I was going to go get some more this afternoon, but the Academy by my house was sold out of the Monarch. They had several thousand rounds in stock last Friday. Oh well I'll keep checking.

I hope those Walmart prices can come back to Houston, last three stops at Walmarts here (my wife drags me in to carry out the cat litter) there was no 9mm under $6/50

I'll have to swing by Academy today and hope they've still got some of the <$5 Monarch left.

I'd stocked up on the Aluminum Blazer when they had it for $3.86/50 knowing the price couldn't last with the increase in gas prices, but my supplies are dwindling so I'm always looking for a good current price for more.

PS I've shot some of the Monarch, its reloadable boxer primed brass, and seemed every bit as good to me as Winchester "USA white box"
