In a bag o' brass I picked up at the range (I police up my lane of leftover brass when I arrive, always leave with more than I came), I found an interesting 9mm case. Interested as to your thoughts as to cause of this bulge.

You'll find all kinds of things at the range, such as .380's fired in 9x19 chambers, 9x19 fired in .40 S&W chambers, and .40 S&W fired in .45 acp chambers. The latter usually come apart, and you just have to know the person firing it got a face full of gases. I've also found 357 Sig brass that was fired in .40 S&W chambers. What a waste of good brass!

On my bench, I've got some .32 S&W Long cases that look like they were fired in a .38 Special chamber. The cases are swollen and split the whole length.

And we wonder why they put warning labels on things........

I certainly concur with that assessment, ReloaderFred.
The dumbing down of America is just so prevalent, I shudder to think what lays ahead for our children and their offspring.

NCsmitty,

I just shudder sometimes when I see people doing some of the things they do, particularly with firearms. The really disappionting part is the responses I get when I try to tell them they're doing something dangerous.

It's not all people, but enough to really make you wonder. Some are really greatful, because they really didn't know any better, or someone told them it was OK. On the other hand, some resist all "interference" in their trek down the road to self destruction.

I bet the target had a keyhole.......if he was really close.

I've actually found perfect condition 9mm bullets on the ground at the range, and thought ***? Then I found the cases! The bullet wasn't 10yrds away:D

I rummaged through the empties I picked up after shooting at the local indoor range and found a number of .380's that looked the same way.

FWIW I brought home more brass than I shot, so the stuff wasn't mine and ended up in the brass scrap bin.

I've got a couple 300 win. cases fired in a 300 wtby. The elderly gent that fired them asked the store clerk for 300 mag and that is what he got.Sighted in with 3 rounds and then killed 2 deer.He wanted the 5 reloaded.
