Well, I have found a first for me. Yesterday I reloaded some 380acp casings and fired them today. When I picked up the casings and put them back in the box I noticed 2 were marked 9mm head stamps. These were some 380 casings I bought from range pickup and somebody has cut them to 380 length.

I looked on line and the general thought is that it is not possible to shoot these in a 380 since the head diameter is a little differant. But they did. These were shot from a Glock 42. They reloaded fine, chambered fine and shoot fine.

I have pulled them out and will not re-use but I had never seem this before. Have you.......

Yes, but they were not cut-down 9mm Luger cases.

They were Europein .380 marked 9mm K, or 9mm Kurtz.

Or, they were 9mm Luger cases cut off for use in a 9mm Makarov.

The Luger case head is .020" larger then .380, and normally will not even fit in a .380 shell holder.

Upon further inspection I realized it is actually marked 9mmBr.C. After some googling apparently Br.C. stands for Browning Corto or Court in Italian or French. It's apparently 380 by our standards. Thanks rcmodel

Yup, encountered a few of those 9mmBrC. Annoying to say the least.

One easy way to tell the difference is the ease of resizing. 9mm takes some effort but the shorter 380 zips right through like butter. That's only if I fail to cull them at pick-up.

Glad I was saving those 9mm shorts dine I will be loading gor the wife's glock 42. Always aggravates me though to run a caliber x and find a similar but not same caliber Y with the press. Happens a lot with range pickup. 30-06 or 25-06 in with my .270win, 30-30 in with my 7-30, now 380 in with 9mm. I keep hearing complaints of 357 sig in with 40sw and vice versa...luckily I have friends who sort that out in a mutually beneficial way.

As much as I cull and check and recheck, that 380 auto brass still seems to sneak thru. Until they pop out of the primer loading stage on my xl650.

I keep a small stash of new 9mm brass at the ready to replace those pesky little buggers.

be safe
