Greetings,

It appears that the 9mm CCI shot capsule is intended to "fail" in the barrel, and then rupture at the muzzle.

Does the type of rifling have any impact on the the failure of the capsule, such as polygonal versus cut?

Are there any known cases of certain guns tending to launch the whole capsule down range instead of rupturing it?

Would a gun equipped with essentially smooth Lancaster style rifling possibly still stabilize a capsule without rupturing, especially if fired at a reduced velocity?

Thoughts?

And yes, there is a method to my madness, but I can't go into detail here.

The capsules are very brittle and fragile. Seems impossible they would survive firing no matter the barrel or how light the load. The softer plastic base might stay intact but bot the capsule. Ive had success using capsules from 9mm to create .380 loads but the capsules must be handled carefully to avoid rupture. (Also, to work in 380 the capsules must be shortened about .09”. Otherwise there is no room for powder.)

Maybe paper test a few at your desired range, which I'm going to guess is 10 yds or less.....

I fired a 9mm CCI shot shell in a Vektor CP1 (which has polygonal rifling) way back in the late 90s or early 2000s. The capsule did not survive intact out of the muzzle. The target was a backlit sheet of paper on which a video was being projected. There was quite a large spread of pellets. It was indoors, maybe 15 to 20 feet distance. This is another round from that same batch I fired:
