9mm DA/SA Single Stack

Polymer or metal preference? Price range?

I honestly can't think of any DA/SA pocket guns, most I know of are DAO.

For something a little bigger, in addition to the excellent S&Ws MADDOG mentioned there is the Sig P239.

I carry a 3913 often, it is not a pocket gun though. IWB it is comfortable.

This is the only DA/SA bottom feeder I own so it is the only one I can comment on, there may be alot better options out there but this would be one to keep in mind.

There are not many 9mm DA/SA single stacks out there anymore... Not current models. There are double stacks, though...

For a pocket gun that is DA/SA - the 9mm Walther P99 A/S COMPACT model comes to mind - but once again, it is not single stack. I actually carried one of these for 3 years before I started just carrying a fullsize gun.

The SIg 232 and one of the Beretta 380s come in single stack - but, they are both 380s and not 9mm...

Unless you want an older S&W model (used), you may have to change your variables a bit..

The H&K P2000 or P2000sk are great guns as well.. DA/SA - but double stack. Also, the USPc series has a DA/SA variant....

Beretta makes a 92 compact, but it is still rather big. However, the Beretta PX4 comes in a subcompact model. It is DA/SA - but once again... doublestack.

Single stack? Not familiar with any current single stack DA/SA models. Most are double stacks. If that works I'd look no further than the HK USP 9c variant one. Most are going for round count these days in 9mm. There may be an older sig or two that fits the bill, just not familiar enough with their product line to make a recommendation.

Oh - sig 239 - single stack (I think) DA/SA 9mm. MIGHT be double stack. Not really pocketable, however

By pocket gun I don't mean the size of my wallet but what would easily conceal in a coat pocket, basically less than full size if you understand my meaning.

DAO but the best 9mm true pocket gun on the planet.

Kahr CW9 fits your modified criteria except that it is DAO.

If you have to stay DA/SA the 3913 or 3914 from S&W is the gun you want IMHO.

Well, he wanted DA/SA - while a little heavier maybe, the Kahr is still close enough to a Glock/XD/M&P trigger... not what he wanted....

Right but as others have pointed out there is really nothing that fits that criteria. Even the 3913 is big for pocket carry so at that point it makes sense to mention other suggestions.

Well, there was another thread by him, and he stated he wanted DA/SA...

He'll likely have to settle on a double stack.

With cargo pants, I pocket carried a p99c sometimes back when I carried one...

Do yourself a big favor and investigate Walther P5. Great pistol, reliable as they get, small, concealable, accurate. DA/SA, carried by German LE.

So I go to my local indoor range where they rent guns but they don't let you shoot the smaller ones??? LC9, CW9 etc... The guy tells me they are not range guns capable of taking the beating their rentals do. How stupid of me to think that the rentals were a way to test drive what you might want to own. Maybe they've never heard of the Gunbroker because they just lost the one advantage they had!

My best guess is to try and rent the trigger types I'm interested in to try and narrow this down some? I might go DAO for safety reasons but felt like "at least in theory" the DA/SA was the best compromise for CC? But like I said at the beginning I'm a noob!

I Googled "compare compact handguns" and came up with this really cool chart. It takes a minute to get used to the format but there is a dotted 4" square and a light hand outline superimposed over each gun so that you can see how they compare in size. It is from 2009.

+1 for the Kahr. Yes, DAO but nice. Its a lonnnng trigger but smooth. Not gritty. I have the P45 &CW9. They do require a break in period but I've never had any problems with the CW9. The grip is kinda rough with that "Pineapple" style checkering but I put a grip wrap on it. Highly recommend the wrap for the 45's. The P45 kicks like a pissed off mule & that grip bites you to let you know when your limp wristing it. Kahr's CS is nice too. I bought the P45 from a friend that didn't like the way it kicked. After more than the "200rd break in" period, I was still having FTF & FTE problems. I emailed Kahr about replacing the recoil spring. Told them I was not the original owner & asked for the price for the spring. They called me 2hrs later asking for my address to ship & it was free of charge. Got the spring 3days later & haven't had a problem with it sense. This was the deciding factor in buying the CW9.

Not a "Pocket" pistol but it conceals very well.

Smith and Wesson CS9. It's a cut down version of the 3913.... Not quite a pocket gun unless your a real big guy.

I've had mine for a number of years and wouldn't trade or sell it for anything.
