Not looking specifically for me, but rather a character in a book I'm working on, but I want a 9mm (potentially .45 ACP could work with the story, but it has to be an autoloader cartridge) double-action (preferably DAO) snub-nose revolver for him to use as a backup.

I see S&W has a few .45 ACP revolvers (although they don't appear DAO) and Taurus has a few in 9 as well, but I was wondering if there was an older model or one not listed on their website that I could use for him.

Thanks, RC! That's exactly what I was looking for.

Can that SP101 have a spurless hammer installed? I'm guessing yes but want to make sure.

    Installed?

A real died in the wool action adventure novel hero would bob it himself with his trusty Dremel tool under cover of darkness. :D

But yes, the service is available from any gunsmith worth his salt.

But actually the hammerless S&W 940 is smaller then a SP101, and would make a better hide-out gun.

Well, this is a bit different action hero than you have in mind, but he's given it by a squad member (who probably would do the work himself).

Good point on the 940 being smaller, but I'm already giving him other weapons by Smith and don't want to appear too fanboiistic towards them (even though I don't personally own any S&W weapons).

Whichever I choose, thanks for the info.
