9mm decision time

xd9 service model (4inch barrel) I have a bitone. She's a pig...... eats everything I give her.... no hicups, no burps.

Now I'm drooling over the xd45acp tactical bitone:cool:

I have 4 CZ-type guns and love them all. Can't go wrong it seems. Recently purchased a Sigpro 2009 to replace the CZ-types as my carry gun. Sweet lil piece. Look into it for a multipurpose gun. Paid $540 for mine w/ 3 mags, night sights, taxes and transfer fees. Probably a little much but I bet you could find a decent price on one.

I would really like to get the 92fs, but it is kind of sounding like the sp01 should be my choise. I will eventually get a sig, but im not looking to spend the money on one just yet.

Ok, to those of you that have or have owned the 92fs and the sp01...At 25 yards, at a fixed position, which gun is going to group the tightest? Like i said, i wouldnt want to own a gun thats not reliable, but this gun is going to be a range gun, so i just want the most accurate one.

ps. Please, BHP fanatics, dont say BHP!

For right now, im just asking about the 92fs and the sp01

Well if it can't be one of these:
BHP Practical

I would highly recommend the EAA Witness Match:

An incredibly accurate pistol at any price, they just happen to be really cheap.

You gotta find the one you shoot best with.

Preferably, once you find this gun, you will find it to be:
* Good to look at
* Comfortable to hold
* Easy to take down and clean
* High-capacity

The CZ SP-01 looks really good to me. The P-01 feels like a glove and looks great, which automatically makes it awesome. The SP-01 is made out of steel instead of aluminum and holds 19 rounds instead of 14, so it should be even more awesome.

Whatever 9 you get, make sure you feed it well, and feed it often. These guns have fast metabolisms and require lots of exercise and nutrition.

Browningguy, how did I know I was gonna get a BHP reference, and a Witness Match suggestion? We have talked about these matches before, and I'm still just a bit reluctant for one reason alone. But, for that price, it might be worth the risk. You did say that is your most accurate handgun didnt you? Damnit! I was really wanting to go do some trading this weekend, now I might have to wait and do some more research.

BUT, I'm still looking for people who have owned the sp01 and the 92fs, and still want to know which is more accurate.

Browning HP or 1911 in 9mm. Of second choice would be SIG 226/228 or a CZ75. Have you considered a Steyr GB?

If you are considering the CZ SP-01, take a look at the CZ PCR model. It is essentially the same gun without a light rail. It is an alloy frame gun which makes it lighter and it goes for around $425.00 nib. It's the gun that I am most accurate with and I own 2 sigs, a BHP, a S&W 6906, and a Kimber. All great guns but if I had to choose onlt one, it would be the PCR. You mentioned that
you wanted something that could also be suitable for carry purposes, the PCR fits that mode very nicely with a good holster and gunbelt.

jml3 you bozo, you are confusing the P-01 with the SP-01. Let me make it perfectly clear, the P-01 and SP-01 are 2 DIFFERENT pistols!

Bazooka, I own a cz75b ( which is functionally the same as a SP01) and a Beretta 92 FS, and I shot them both yesterday with the idea I would sell the one that doesn't perform as well to reduce my collection. Well long story short, the CZ in my hands is much more accurate than the 92. I fire a 15 round mag out of my 92 at 10 yards and took my time (about 60 seconds), concentrating on breathing and sight alignment etc...and got good results. Then I fired a 15 round mag through my CZ at 10 yards also in about 20 seconds really just blasting and not trying too hard, and with the exception of one flyer, I got the same size group. So both guns are cabable of the same level of accuracy, but for me the cz does it with much less effort.
And as a P.S., I can't decide which to keep because even though I shoot the CZ better and it is more ergonomic, it does not field strip as easy as the beretta and the finish is not as durable. And the last negative for the CZ is the slide design. The slide is set low in the frame for a lower bore axis to make the recoil softer, and while this works incredibly well, it's hard to work the slide and to do press checks because there's not much slide to grab onto.
So to sum up the CZ definitely has an accuracy edge, but I'm not sure about ruggedness. And I can't believe that even after you told everyone you wanted a comparison of the Cz vs. the Beretta they still kept coming with BHP and other reccomendations. It seems like people never listen to anyone on these forums. :banghead:

Thanks Ridx!!!! Thats the pro's and con's list i was looking for.:D

This is gonna be a tough decision...Well kind of, because whichever one i get this time, the other one is only a couple months away im sure.:)

I do like what im hearing about the cz75 accuracy, but I'm just not so sure it outweighs the ruggedness of the 92fs. Because what im looking for is a relatively cheap, accurate, beater, that i can toss around if i want.

As far as the BHP nuts go....It's all in good fun...If I got mad about it, I wouldn't come here.

My Browning is the sweetest shooting 9mm I have ever laid a hand on.....simply spectacular.

For the money I cant complain about my Smith and Wesson 6906. Not near as nice as my BHP but the trigger is pretty decent.....and for $290, you cant beat it.

Browning HiPower, arguably the best pistol ever made.

I knew I shouldn't have mentioned BHP's in my list.:cuss:

Its not that I don't want a BHP, I just don't want to spend the money on one right now!!!!

Any more non-BHP opinions??

Like say, sp01 vs. 92fs???????????

Umm, is $400 too much for one? http://www.sarcoinc.com/handguns.html look under the bold "Military" heading. A little ways down they have
Browning Hi-Power military 9mm pistol re-parkerized. Excellent condition, including bore & black plastic grips… $400.00
and a pic http://www.sarcoinc.com/images/r5578.jpg
So for $400 you get a real Hi-Power with a nice durable parkerized refinish and they even have the ring type hammer.

Ok, I'll let you get back to your Berettas and CZs now.

(Regarding the BHP) You might have some problems with hollow points. But that can be remedied.

That's almost certainly not going to be the case. If you get a BHP made circa~1980 or later, it will come throated from the factory.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Wes
