9mm glock recipe

what kind of functioning recipes do you glock fans use for 9mm? right now i only have W231 powder that i've loaded with but plan to broaden my inventory some. I just want a good recipe for target plinking and the general "get outta my garden" round for the varmits here at the house!! and as the subject says, i'll be loading for a G26. thanks guys, hvychev77

I shoot 124gr HP Montana Gold Bullets with 4.3gr Win231/HP-38. Very accurate in 5 family 9mm's. Also works well with 124gr lead bullets. Velocity is right at 1090fps.

I use a very similar recipe to what Waldog loads.

My recipe is a 124gr FMJ bullet over 4.4gr W231/HP-38 and a CCI-500 or Winchester SPP. With a 124gr lead bullet I drop the charge to 4.0gr W231 but since you are shooting a Glock I'm guessing you won't be using lead bullets.

I stay away from lead with Glock 40's and 45's. But I have no qualms about the 9mm.

Slightly increased pressures are bound to happen. Kinda like shooting a gun underwater. The Glock 17 is rated to shoot underwater.

My Glock is very easy to clean after shooting lead. Takes about 30 seconds longer to clean than usual.

Pick any bullet you want.
Pick any pistol powder you want.
Pick and seating depth you want.
Work up a load until the cases land 5' away.

You may have to work down the load.

But there it is, your Glock 9mm load.

Lately I've been loading 115 gr FMJ with 4.5 gr Bullseye and CCI 500 primer at 1.125" OAL. To me the recoil in my G26 feels a lot like a factory WWB round and I can shoot around 2" groups at 8 yds. I don't have a chrono to measure though. I've also had good luck loading with Power Pistol but don't have the recipe at hand.

Precision delta 115 grain bullet, 5 grains of Unique and it shoots well out of my glock 17. Imagine it would do fine in your 26. I load a lot of lead, but I dont see much gain after PD's cost of 115 grain bullets.

thanks guys, i gotta get some different powders to try. it kinda stinks, cause my local gun stores mainly sell guns and not a lot of reloading supplies, or the stuff they do have isn't what i'm looking for......thanks again fellas, hvychev77

I really like 147 grain plated bullets in the 9mm, especially the shorter barrel guns, mine is the 19. W231 (HP-38) should be perfect for practice loads. With heavier bullets you can get a good functioning load with a lot less powder which gives less muzzle blast, a nice feature in plinking ammo.

I run a 115 FMJ Montana Gold Bullet over 4.2 grains of IMR-700X. DOes a good job on steel plates and ho;ds a tight group out of a G-17.

I load for my G17, XDM, several variations of Taurus including PT111, 24/7 and a Millenium Pro. All of them get the same diet of everything from a 90 gr. XTP up to the 147 gr. XTP and Gold Dots using Longshot and HS6. Velocities and accuracy are excellent with both of those powders. Pressures appear to be very stable even though they are in the higher working range. I like those powders because they are not temparmental even when I'm loading above the listed maximum's for those bullet weights.
These powders are not going to give you a low end option though, and are only intended for a high performance load. They are fairly slow burning powders for this cartridge so powder charges are dense and make it easy to notice an accidental double charge because it won't fit in the case..

I have just completed setting up my first press, a Hornady LNL AP Ammo Plant, complete with case feeder and bullet feeder. Dies setup as follows:
Station 1- RCBS size and deprimer
Station 2- Hornady PTX Expander/powder drop
Station 3- Hornady Powder COP
Station 4- Hornady Bullet Feeder Die
Station 5- Hornady Seater Die

I am only interested in loading 9mm for now for plinking and training purposes. Below is the current recipe that I am looking at using. Can you all please take a look at it and tell me if you consider this a safe load or not. It will be fired out of a Glock 19.

Bullet: Rainer 115gr RN
Primer: Remington 1.5 Small Pistol
Powder: Titegroup 4.2 grains
Case: Remington
COAL: 1.100"
