Yes Ruger did make a 9mm version of the SP.

In years past they made a small quantity of Speed Sixes in Parabellum as well. Most went overseas for police contracts and I believe some went to U.S. Postal inspectors. Greatest number of them were with the 2.75" barrel but they made some 4 inchers as well.

Didn't Ruger make a SP101 in 9mm also?

Yes. I have one it is by far my favorite revolver. I also have a S&W 940, but it tends to stick shells and needs to be kept clean. No such issues with the SP101.

vmtz,
A lot of 940s were released with rough chambers which led to sticky extraction. A honing job will take care of the problem and turn your 940 into a sweet shooter.

One of those curious considerations when folks are quivering in terror about +p .38 spls in J frames------------Factory 9mm J frames have been produced on many 5 shot .38 chassis. I also suspect that the introduction of .357 mag J frames and the lowering of SAAMI pressure specs for .357s may be tied to this long track record of 9mm and Speer #8 handloads along with the .38-44 being fired in small frame revolvers. I klnow nothing about the conversions but my Taurus 9mm snubbie is a delight to shoot............and treds hard on the heels of .357 mag performance with less muzzle blast and recoil.
