I have had a couple of 9mms, one a Gov't model, and one a lightweight commander. While both had some cartridges that they disliked, both had some that they just dearly loved, both reliability wise and accuracy wise.
So, with the caveat that ammunition must be tested, I would not be afraid of any 9mm 1911 type.
I seriously doubt that Colt engineers would have introduced a 9mm Commander and Gov't model if there were any major reliability problems.
I still prefer the longer cartridges, but reliability is not the reason.
