I've used Unique before for 9X19mm, but have been reading about Power Pistol. Just wondering what experiences everyone has had with this powder, since it was suppodely developed for 9mm.

I really like Power Pistol. It meters much better than Unqiue because it is finer. It also burns very clean.

I like Power Pistol in the 9mm. It produces decent velocities but it is a bit flashy. It also has a bit of static cling to the inside of the powder measure even when its been wiped with a dryer sheet but it cleans out with a bit of wiping when the hopper is emptied. Have tried it in the .38 spl but wasn't impressed and will stick with Unique and W231 for the lower pressure special.

Power Pistol was specifically formulated for the 9mm. Excellent powder

Was a Unique believer before Power Pistol

I learned to reload almost all pistol rounds using Unique. Then I got curious and tried Power Pistol.

I have not looked back when it comes to 9mm and .40 S&W. It shoots very well in 9mm. My go to load in 9mm is 5.3g of Power pistol with a 124 grn Penn bullet.. It shoots great in .40 S&W also. It is late in California and I would have to look up my .40 load later. I am not going into the cold garage this late....

The muzzle flash is pretty large but looks really cool at night..!

I've never used Unique but PP in 9mm is awesome.

There is a little muzzle flash that is noticeable at indoor ranges, But it does not distract or bother me.

Outdoor ranges I notice no muzzle flash.

Power Pistol is very accurate in 9mm.

However, I am not a fan of the huge fireball and loud BANG! with almost any charge weight larger than a powder puff load.

There are better powders with flash inhibitors that aren't as loud, shoot softer and burn cleaner in 9mm. Even a few that are just as accurate as Power Pistol.

Do they have names?
I'm a big fan of N330 and N340 in 9mm vs. Power Pistol.

I haven't found a better powder for 9mm than those two that burns clean, shoots relatively soft and quiet and is very accurate. The only downside is the added cost.

WSF also works well at the high end, without the loud bang and fireball.

I've been using Power Pistol for years for 9mm it's great stuff. I just picked up some VV N-320 to try and it seems to be good so far.

I use W231 in most of my 9mm ammo. (and most other handgun calibers) When i'm looking for something to produce "hotter" ammo I use Longshot of HS-6. I heard AA#5 also works well but I haven't tried it yet.

Love shooting PP indoors!! Excellent fire balls, but also is the most accurate powder I've used in 9mm and 40, so you gotta live with it:)

I used HS-6 & AA#5 for the last couple of thousand rounds of 9mm and 40s. They both meter very well and I have never noticed any fireball though I do all my shooting in the outdoors. I cannot give you any numbers as I am away from home for a few months but most of the reloads are Berrys loaded somewhere about mid range of jacketed loads. I use the Lee disk measure and use the cavity that closest measures out to my targeted weight.

If you want lighter loads (minor PF), n320 is THE 9mm powder. Single base, cool burning, no flash or trash, accurate, meters very well, not position or temp sensitive and soft shooting.

It is expensive by the pound, but not much by the cartridge. 4.0 grs under a 125gr bullet gives 130-ish PF/1045-1050 ft per min. Maybe an extra 1.2 cents/shot.

Most of my plated or jacketed bullets in 9mm are over PP.It is just a great powder in that cal. N330 was designed by Vihtavuori for the 9mm so it does well in there also(not always easy to find though), N320 and N340 are also good and clean , soft shooting also.

For lead I like AA#5 and WSF better than Power Pistol.

I don't like PP in .40 because of the snappy recoil, the Vihtavuori is tops in that caliber.

I've tried N320 with 124's and 147's and still have most of a 4 lb. container left.

Contrary to prevailing opinion, I've not found it to be very accurate in my guns. My best loads hovered around 3.6" at 25 yards with the 147 Zero JHP for 10 rds.

I agree with everything else you said about N320 though.

I've playing with PP and 147's lately. I found it to prefer WSP over other primers. It prefers 1.130" OAL with Win and Zero JHP and 1.169" with Hornady and Precision Delta FMJ RN. I found 4.5 grains to be most accurate. Went as high as 4.7 but the recoil became excessive and I could feel the slide slapping the frame. 5 grains is the book max, BTW.
