Winchester lists data for WSF and WST using 124 grain LRN but does not list either powder using 125 grain LRN. As I have a couple thousand 125 grain bullets I would like to know is it safe to use 124 grain data? I can't believe one grain in bullet weight makes a significant difference. I would only be using light loads, nothing close to max.

Yes, but....

Well, if you're not bumping the top of the recommended loads, you should be in good shape. That is to say, if the recommended load is from 3.5 to 5.0 grains of powder X, and you're loading 4.5 grains, I do that without any signs of excess pressure. I wouldn't do it for a 5.0 grain charge.

I say that because I use ballistic software that allows me to change the weight of a bullet and re-calculate pressure. I do that because I weigh bullets, and found that my 158-grain cast bullets actually weigh 160 grains. The increased pressure is pretty small. My rule of thumb on light cartridges with light bullets would be to allow 1-2% extra weight in lead for every 1/10th grain of powder.

Fact is, for cast bullets anyway, you get that much variance just with changing your alloy a little.

Your mileage may vary. If you're really worried about your charge weight, do some more internet searching - for something as popular as 9mm Para, you'll find data if you look.

Load 124/125 grain bullets as if they weigh the same...

Even in jacketed bullets I have seen +/- 2 grains difference. And pretty much ignore it...
