I looked at one of these at a gunshow last weekend. Price was right at about $300 but is it a good deal?

Alot of people don't like them, they had some real growing pains when S&W introduced them. It's not a popular gun, and the resale price is next to nothing for them.

I love mine. That is a pretty good deal in my area right now. I paid $300 out the door new for mine, with 4 mags about a year ago. I couldn't touch that right now.

That is pretty debatable. You could get you $300 back easy I think. I saw one online for $275 the other day. It sold in like ten minutes. I would have grabbed it but somebody beat me to it.

I love my SW40VE. It's been beyond reliable. Eats any and everything I put into it. Hits pretty much where I point it. Trigger is a little heavy but, if you're a man, you'll get used to it. The $250 more you'd pay for a Glock or anything else will buy a lot of practice ammunition for your pistol. $250 would also get you a reloading press, bullets, primers, powder, and dies to roll your own ammo, if you don't already.

Paid $300 out the door for mine 2 years ago. For the money you can't beat it.

All the Best,
D. White

The VE is the latest gen of this fantastic self defense gun. Pretty, no, tack driver, no, 100% reliable, and reasonably priced gun, YES! It's my daily carry.

The only problem I found with it is that the trigger pull is long and heavy. But I would buy one in a second if the opportunity presented itself.

as others have said, trigger pull is an issue for some. Its long and heavy, but absolutely no unbearable, espeically if you are used to shooting DA revolvers. Mine has had zero malfunctions, has eaten every from 115 FMJs to 147 gr JHPs, and with rebate and gift card (store promotion-buy a gun, get a $50 gift card--TO BE USED TOWARDS it!!) It ran me all of $200 NIB!! I could NOT not buy one at that price, and though I ldon't plan on parting with it, I'm sure I could easily get my initial investment back if I ever desired to.

I have one. I like it. No issues, it just shoots. It's like shooting a more comfortable compact revolver except you can shoot 3 times as many rounds before reloading, and that is fast with extra mags.

I bought one in December as my first pistol. 1000+ rounds downrange (FMJ & JHP), with nary a hiccup. Being my first pistol, I had nothing to compare the trigger to, which is the biggest knock against the SW9VE. I learned to shoot it well enough that it sits loaded on one side of my bed.

On the flip side, my Beretta Px-4 9mm is prettier, a much better shooter, and more expensive than the Sigma, but overall a vastly better gun. I'm glad I learned to shoot the Sigma pretty well, as it really made me appreciate the Beretta.
