My 9mm 1911 surprised me at the range last week. I shot several mags and then changed ammunition from one major brand to another. The point of impact dropped by at least 3.5 inches at 15 yards. I shot enough to make sure it was a consistent drop.
Here is some background information. This 9mm was never very accurate compared to my 45. I’ve improved the fit at both the barrel bushing and the barrel-to-slide lock up, so both ends are good. The gun has target sights and I wondered if they were out of adjustment, but it took 6-8 clicks to get back on target. The pistol feeds and extracts reliably. I was wondering if the barrel diameter might be a bit tight.
Has that happened to you? Please offer me your ideas as to what is going on here.
Thanks in advance,
