Time to buy another pistol. I only own one 9x19 pistol, and thought I might get another. The Walther p-1 stands out among other semi-autos; nothing else looks quite the same, except the p-38s. They are outdated, low-cap guns. I like outdated guns, my other is a norinco 9mm tok. If anyone who owns a p-1 can help me I would appreciate it. A; I can get one with two mags in "very good" condition shipped to my door for 320. Is that a sort of o.k. price? B; how important is it to get this pistol with the reenforcement bolt in the front of the alloy frame. Is it important? C; Are these things sensitive to ammo, brass, alloy, steel? D; I see alot of repair kits/parts around. Are they interchangeable between models? E; Can a questionable shot like myself have any hope of accuracy with these things? As always, I appreciate any input.

I have had two P-1 Manurhin marked that where early post WWII former German police pistols for about 25 years that I enjoy very much. These do not have the reinforcement bolt in the frame and have the light weight slide. They are accurate pistols but tend to shoot low with a 2 handed hold but simply raising the front sight puts them in the right place.

Mine have had no problems feeding JHP's, Lead and FMJ's 115gr to 147 gr and can't remember ever having a failure to feed or eject using factory or hand loads. I do use standard pressure ammo in these guns except maybe some hand loaded 115gr JHP's on top of 6.0 grs of Unique that leave the muzzle at 1,256 fps average. I can't remember ever trying Wolf steel case or CCI aluminum in these pistols.

I often keep one loaded with Winchester Ranger Partition Gold standard pressure for self defense duty in the house.

It's one of the nicest and smoothest shooting DA/SA pistols I've shot.

There is nothing outdated about the P1 IMO.

That's a fair price for a P1, and they actually don't feel outdated at all when you handle and shoot them (other than the low mag capacity). Other milsurps, like the Tok, can definitely feel outdated. The P1 feels well manufactured, has a decent trigger, and generally feels and handle like a modern gun. If you expect an old school feel to it, you may almost be disappointed.

I have a P38 and really like it. BTW, don't worry about mags, they're dirt cheap for these guns. CDNN has them for like $10.

Get one now if you want one.
Like all Mil surplus, they won't be around forever and the prices will rise.

I want one! I was able to shoot both with German Army and Air Force on seperate occasions. P1 was a sweet shooter...If it has "BW" stamped on the frame it a Germany Military Gun ( BW='s Bundeswehr German Armed Forces...Luftwaffe, Heer, and Marine( Navy)

Like Steve C, I have a Manurhin P-1 that was a former West German police sidearm. It's a decent shooter, with best results obtained with 115 gr. FMJ ammo. The trigger is nothing great in DA but rather crisp in SA mode. Sights are large and easy enough to pick up quickly. Magazines are still readily available and are very reasonable in price.

Thanks for the replies. I might call Classic tomorrow and see if they still have any. Have to coordinate UPS with my wife's days off. Must conceal gun purchases. Difficult.
